Our Road Trip Pit Stop: Mount Rushmore

Ian and I drove from Washington to Arkansas twice within one month. That’s a LOT of driving hours y’all so we tried breaking it up as much as we could. The first trip we stayed the first night in Salt Lake City with some of our good friends. The second trip we went a different route so we could stop at Mount Rushmore & it did not disappoint.

Since we drove through in March, practically everything was shut down in the town since it was “offseason.” If you are planning on going to Mount Rushmore, I strongly recommend going around this time. There was barely anyone around and it was nice we didn’t have to fight any traffic or crowds.

Here’s the Crazy Horse Memorial that has been in the process of being built since Mount Rushmore! We didn’t stop since there is a fee to get in and we didn’t think there would be a lot to see but thankfully we got to see part of it from the road. The face is done and they are currently working on the hand. Some people believe that this Memorial will never get completed so it will be interesting to watch this progress if it does.

Seeing Mount Rushmore in person was amazing! Pictures are cool to see but you truly have to see it for yourself.IMG_0163

There is a museum on how Mount Rushmore was built. There are videos, tons of pictures, and there are artifacts of items people used to build it. Ian & I love learning about history so we spent a lot of time here. IMG_0170

Mount Rushmore – you were a GREAT side trip on our long road trip. I am so glad we picked this route so we could stop here. Here’s one thing that can be crossed off the bucket list.
